Apologies to all my faithful readers, I seemed to have drifted off the blogging sphere these past two weeks! Between Christmas shopping, finishing my fashion business course and general end of year laziness i've had absolutely no time for anything except waking up at 3pm and watching a marathon of 'Girls' (I live the sweet life) But i've pulled myself away from my comfy and ridiculous hidey-hole to tell you about the most fantastic time I had at Taylor Swift's Sydney concert.
Now, incase you didn't already know, i'm a giant T-swift groupie! I have all her songs, I watch all her interviews and she is the sole purpose of me owning a guitar. I've never idolised someone so strongly before, She is beautiful and graceful, an amazing songwriter and even with all her greatness she is a completely flawed human being, making giant relationship stuff ups and being a complete head case and just going through life being her weird and awkward self (you get why I love her, no?)
Taylor has always taught me to be myself and stand up for what I believe in and taught me so much about relationships, the good and bad and that it's ok to be lost in a day dream sometimes. She's given me so much perspective on life and I will be forever grateful! And just when I think i'm paying her back by supporting her as often as I can at her live shows, she comes out on stage and just keeps giving all her love and energy to her fans, the Red tour was no exception.
Between theatric displays, costumed dancers, amazing graphics and fireworks displays, Taylor made every effort to reach outside the boundaries of the stage, making her way down the middle of the stadium floor and using moving circular stages and rotating crane arms to catch a glimpse of everyone around her. Her acoustic set was flawless and was a great way for her to play 'you belong with me' which is a concert staple for her now days.
Another thing I love about Taylor Swift concerts, is that she always takes time to stop and admire the crowd, she listens to the cheers of everyone who came together to celebrate her music and sincerely thanks everyone for attending, being to so many shows myself it is just so refreshing to see an artist stop and smell the roses, especially when they're at the top of their game, like Miss Swift.
If I had to fault her I would take away a point for not having an encore, but considering I am in love with every one of her songs I never feel unsatisfied by the songs on her set list.
I think for the future i'll be saving all my pennies so that next time she's in town I can splurge on a meet and greet. Because even though the picture above is the closest I came to her I still had one of the best nights of my life, Taylor Swift is a true performer!
